WE’LL GET YOUR STUDENTS TALKING
We’re a team of educators and language-enthusiasts working hard to fill the communication void in secondary school modern foreign language classrooms.
THE SAMMTALK METHOD
SammTalk is developed by teachers, for teachers. Our unique process and tasks inspire communication, motivation, and openness in our students. We use researched motivation-based learning and meaningful use of technology to bring students together and generate real atmospheres of language practice and culture sharing.
PROGRAMME CONTENT
The SammTalk curriculum is designed to align well with most modern languages text books. Activities are open ended, allowing students of all levels to participate. Topics include family, food, city, school, hobbies, sports, music, television, film, preferences, news, environment, etc.
Example Task 1:
NEIGHBOURHOOD - Make a video tour in pairs or small groups!
Show us around your neighbourhood! For example, you can show us and tell us about local squares and statues or where you like to hang out, play sports, and go to the cinema.
Example Task 2:
LAST WEEKEND - Send an audio message to your group!
Tell us what you did last weekend. For example, did you meet friends, go to the cinema, or have lunch with your family?
HOW STUDENTS INTERACT
TIMELINE
An important part of this programme is sustained engagement, which is why it lasts about 6 months. Teachers are asked to plan for at least 2 to 3 tasks per month, with each task taking about 25 to 40 minutes on average. Partner teachers discuss together and agree on which tasks they want to do when.

We’re here for you! In 2020, our team has already supported over 70 teachers in successfully making the most of their digital pen pal experience. What’s great is that you can work with SammTalk tasks at school in a physical classroom or from home in a virtual classroom!

PrijsuitlegWe aim to make SammTalk as accessible as possible to as many schools as possible while ensuring that our team is paid a fair wage for their hard work. We ask all schools to pay a per-student cost. When you sign up to receive more information we ask you about the economic circumstances of your school, which we use - along with your school’s geographic location and how many classes you want to register - to propose a suitable per-student cost for your school.
